sabbatical journal #1

I’m now on Day 6 of my first-ever work sabbatical.

I can already tell that the two months are going to flyyyy by so in an attempt to capture some of these thoughts, this is going to be a bit of a irregular but recurring series.

It’s also partly because I can imagine that my colleagues are going to be excitedly asking me so zaid what did you do? the moment I’m back. That’s because everyone wants a break, and everyone deserves a break but not everyone is in a stage of life where they can take unpaid leave. I’m glad I even asked, and that it got sorted so quickly (shoutout to Lucy, my wonderful manager) – and I also know that it’s probably 20% courage, 80% privilege.

So for all the reasons above – and really also because I just enjoy good old old-fashioned writing –

what I’ve been up to

(I never finished this but wanted to publish anyway, as the first mention of my sabbatical. as I write this, it’s almost over. alhamdulillah ‘alaa kulli haal.)
