I am a writer.
When I was young, I tried writing in made-up languagaes and codes. Today, I write in English easily, dan saya tulis menggnakan bahasa ibundaku dengan amat mudah. In school, I learnt a bit of writing different languages: a little bit of Mandarin, a little bit of Japanese, a little bit of computer code. But my favourite language to write in is al-lughatul al-‘arabiyya.
I am still learning. I write slowly and unnaturally. I make mistakes, and my ustaz corrects them.
But if every language is a key to a new world, then Arabic is the most valuable key of all. The more I write, the better I get and the more I understand my language. Our shared key that unlocks the greatest treasures: the words of my Lord, and my Beloved Prophet.
Our Lord, bless our efforts and make this beautiful language easy on our tongues, ears, fingers and hearts!
